Soil nails
Soil nailing is a method of improving natural soil stability. The soil nails improve the cohesion of loose material and increase its tensile and shear strength, producing a new composite material with high load bearing ability.
Soil nails can absorb tensile and transverse loads. They create a monolithic body displaying high stability. The softer the soil, the closer the nails have to be spaced.
Soil nails are used to secure excavations, secure and rehabilitate sliding slopes and banks, repair retaining walls and tunnels and to nail railway embankments and repair hillside roads.
Advantages:
- low vibrations
- low noise nuisance
- flexibility to adapt to land and layout
- soil nails can be installed in steep slopes
- prevent settlement of building structures
- suitable for permanent and temporary construction measures
