Straight web sections
Cofferdams are made from straight web sections displaying high interlock strength. Depending on steel grade and section type, this strength is at least 2,000 kN/m and can reach 5,000 kN/m depending on angle of rotation. The advantage of cofferdams made from straight web sections is that they provide stability by means of the cell fill alone, without waling and anchoring.
They are particularly cost-effective in the case of large water depths, large terrain jumps and long structures. There are two types of cofferdams – those with circular cells and those with diaphragm cells. The advantage of the circular cell type is that each cell can be installed and filled individually and is therefore stable on its own.
