Strong frame systems
The Strongframe system consists of a standard strongbox panel and a profiled strongframe panel bolted to it. A shoring unit consists of two panels and four struts. Trench sheets are placed in the chambers between the strongbox panel and the strongframe panel.
At the top of the trench the trench sheets support the panels. According to trench depth, an abutment is formed by the trench sheeting penetrating the trench floor. If required for structural reasons, walers and struts are installed at the bottom to provide further support.
After the pipe is laid the trench is backfilled and compacted layer by layer between the trench sheets and where necessary additionally supported by walers. The trench sheets are only pulled after backfilling and compacting are complete, and then the strongframe panels are removed and remaining backfilling work completed.
The strongframe method is a universal and cost-effective trench shoring technique. Its applications are not limited by trench width and depth.
Advantages:
- Placing of cast-in-situ concrete possible
- Crossing pipes are boxed out
- Large free working height when installed under floor
- Backfilling and compacting without cavities
- Frequent re-use
- Interchangeability of modules
